Things Are Turning Around

No my head has stopped spinning since my exorcism. Just kidding. These last few weeks have been horrible and I needed a pick me up. Well I got it two fold starting with a phone call from my husband's uncle. He is a picker/antique dealer and bought out an estate. He doesn't deal in clothing but knows I do. He called stating this was the most clothes he had ever seen and wondered if I was interested. How fast could I get there?
I went yesterday and made the deal and came home with my first load. I am going back today for more. There are two houses packed full from 1940's - today of clothing. The woman was a shopaholic and never threw anything away. The only problem is most of the items aren't of the greatest quality. She mainly shopped at Kmart and Monkey Wards. There are stuff that is new with tags and most of the items are in great condition. For those of you who love the thrill of the hunt, I will tell the story of the houses. Yes that is plural. There is a house in the front and another house in the back. They have lived in both at some points and have stuff in both the homes. We started in the front house (the one with the heat). I wasn't too impressed when we started. These were newer clothing from 1980's - today. A lot of these items have never been worn and are still in bags. Also, she stored many items in rubbermaid bins and wrote what was inside and when she put it there. Like 1990 - 21 pairs of jeans, 7 summer shirts, etc. Uncle Joe told me there were more jeans than he had ever seen. Boy was he right. Tub after tub of jeans.
Anyway, when we got upstairs we went a little back in time with the clothing. We were now in the 1970's with polyester printed elastic waisted pants and crazy print pointy collar shirts. There one back of the closet is filled with a collection of velour zip up sweaters. I got a little more interested but still looked like a lot of work and not much $$$.
We left the front house and headed to the back house without any heat. Again stepping back in time, we are now in the 1960's with striped shortsleeved polyester mini dresses and great printed cardigan sweaters. As we head upstairs the closets are getting fuller and the items are getting better. The one back bedroom has two avocado green plastic laundry basket filled with vintage 1960's tooled leather purses and 1950's patent leather handbags. I also spotted the boxes of summer clothes including sleeveless striped tank tops and 1970's halters. In one box we found 17 pairs of super short but high waisted white polyester shorts. Who needs that many pairs of white mini shorts?
The very last room was the motherload. This was when I knew I wanted all the clothes I could get. There was a large walk in (kind of) closet with four bars filled with those hanging plastic closet bags. The first one has a 1950's sheer pintuck pleated nylon blouse and a few cute cardigans. The next one was filled with cute full pleated 1950's skirts. The one behind that had two of the best 1950's dresses I have seen in a while. (Pictures will follow tomorrow) We then made the deal. I get all the clothing I want for $400.00. I started loading what I wanted to really take and left for the day. We are meeting back today for more. The only problem is he wants to start in the front house because it has heat and he needs to clear that house out first. I really want more in the back house but will take what I can get. I will get back tonight or tomorrow with more info and photos.

The Day Is Getting Better & Better - Maybe Not

I was hoping that the day would turn but then I got a call from my daughter's school to come and get her. Now she is home sick with a fever. Maybe I can get out of the house for a little bit without loosing my mind. TOO LATE

Slap My Hand

I didn't get to post yesterday. I spent all yesterday at my husband's office working the front desk. It was the first time in over nine years that I have 'worked' in that type of setting. I enjoyed it for the fact that is wasn't watching the kids at home all day like me usual repetative day. After they showed me where the baseball bat, shotgun, and hand gun were and told me to 'just point and shoot' I was a little on edge. Their business isn't located in the nicest neighborhood and they were robbed last year. My day went without a hitch - no armed robbery for me - but it gave me more respect for my husband and what he goes through in a day.
Anyway my business was on hold for a day but I am back to listing. I found some spring dresses that I never got around to listing last year and decided to list them. Here is my favorite -
a LEMON CHIFFON DREAM

Meet BUNNY

Well the kids were home again all day with another snow day. My car was covered with a thick layer of ice. But neither of those things stopped me from thrifting ---- that might mean I have a problem. I just couldn't stay in the house one more minute. We all felt trapped and needed to get out. Plus I didn't want to make dinner.
So out we went. My favorite thrift had their huge sale today but because of the weather hadn't been picked over. I got some pottery (which I don't usually buy) that I will show tomorrow. For tonight I will show my newest unique item.
Is is a bunny,
is it is a doll,
is it a bag,
hopefully it won't come to life an kill us tonight.

This fluffy pink rubber faced doll has a large opening on the back with a metal zippered opening. I found something like it elsewhere and they said it was a 'bed doll' where you stored your pajamas until the night.

Two Days In a Row - That Should Be A Record

Put two notches on your computer screen, I have posted two days in a row. I just need to keep some time just for me to do this. With three kids home all day for a snow day, I should get a round of applause, too. Just cross your fingers that they have school tomorrow.
Wednesday is my weekly thrifting day. I usually hit two to three thrifts that day. But if all the kids are home tomorrow, A Thrifting I WON'T Go.
Today I took photos all morning and listed all afternoon. I am going to spend the rest of the evening packaging. With Ebay and Etsy, my life is full.
This weeks featured item is this fabulous vintage 80's draped harem one piece jumpsuit. I have never seen one with capri like pants.

Working to Keep Up On Blogging

My New Year's resolution is to start bloggin more. I will try to post one a day. So each day I will show something I just found and listed. So this week my favorite dress I have named TIE THE KNOT.

With Valentine's Day on the way, soon couples will be getting engaged. I thought this dress would be the perfect for telling the family without flashing the ring.
