There is a New Year just around the corner

Well, it is almost 2012 and I am already behind. I have a packed house, need more income, and need to stop shopping. I just finished watching the movie The Julie/Julia Project about Julia Child and the women who blogged about cooking all the recipes in Julia Child's cookbook in a year. That got me started thinking. I am going to try and grow my business using my blog. I have made a New Years resolution ( which I never do) to list at least TEN items a day on either Ebay or Etsy. I am hoping this will solve all of my about problems. This should lessen the load in my house. Make me more money. And stop me from shopping (as I will be listing and packing until my hands bleed). I am also hoping that if I keep this up it will make my blog and business grow. As a bonus, I hope that I will have more friends or followers on this blog. Fingers crossed.

Let The Count Down Begin

It has been a while but I'm still here. We have had lots of milestones since the last time I posted and I survived them all. If only I had made t-shirts to prove it. There was the Fourth of July party, a three day work day at my husband's office, and the first day of school. With all that behind me, all I have to worry about now is my 3 year old's first day of school, my brother's wedding reception at my home in three weeks, and setting up at Hartville flea market for Labor Day.
I will be setting up at Hartville again on Saturday 9/3/11 (if the weather holds). If it rains, I'll try to set up on Monday 9/5/11. So I have three days to get everything ready, cleaned, priced, and loaded. So let the count down begin. I will start posting pics of what I've got for sale and the piles of stuff I have to go. I'm excited and ready to purge. My house is bursting and with a party around the corner, I want it all gone. I am going to bring some vintage clothing again since it did so well. I usually don't but just have too much to list. I will also bring the rest of my vintage 1960's MOD new old stock curtains to sell. Hopefull I will come home with a wad of cash, an empty car, and maybe a treasure I can find.

What I did for Memorial Day...

After no sleep, over heat, and no food, I am hear to tell the tale. I left very, very early Monday morning at 1am (which is considered Monday but still felt like Sunday). I had about only three hours of sleep and drove 45 minutes to Hartville Flea Market to set up. I arrived a 2 am and got one of the few spots left. I had no place to sleep left in my car and it was already well over 70 degrees. So I decided to start unloading my car before it got too hot.
At this point, my adrenaline was pumping and I just ended up setting the whole thing up. I wish I had my first shots after I set up but sold three of my biggest and bestest items within the first hour or so. Here are some pics I took when I realized I brought my camera.

I had a great time but was exhausted when I got home. I think I made the most money I have ever at Hartville and definitely beat out everyone around me. I came home with a ball of money and a car still filled with stuff. I met some fun people and some old friends. I usually set up once or twice a year on the big days (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day). I had tons of people tell me I had the best stuff and the best prices. I just wish I had more customers. I think I will try to shoot for Labor Day. That means I needs some good auctions.
Here are some of the items I came home with that I will be listing on Ebay -
A huge lot of antique wooden printers blocks

A unique metal mid century magazine rack (which I think was a store display for TV Guide)

And last but not least - A Metal Bunny Rabbit Playground Ride On Toy

How About A Recovering Sale!!!

Today is all about sundurns, back aches, and upset stomachs. I spent yesterday setting up at a flea market to purge some of my stock. I will tell more about that in the next post.
Today, I am taking it easy. So I thought I'd have a sale to keep my time occupied. So at either of my stores on Etsy, Andvintage or Oliveyouvintage, take 50% off the purchase price on any and everything. Just type in MEMORIAL at checkout.
The sale will only last until midnight tonight Tuesday May 31st. So buy, buy, buy, before it's too late.

I'm On A Roll

Since I got three posts done yesterday, I think I can spit one out today. My afternoon came to a screaching hault when I forgot to change the date to tomorrown when I was printing out shipping labels. I ended up with one package printed to ship on today's date with only five minutes to get to a post office. Well, that didn't happen but luckily I found out another Post Office about 15 minutes away is open until 7:00pm. So, I pushed everyone into the car and off we went.
After that I decided to drive to a locate thrift store (one of my favorites). I ended up finding some cute stuff for super cheap (did I mention is it one of my favorites). Here are some super horrible pics of my finds.

As a bonus, here is a copy of my reciept.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

I have been all excited about the bulbs I planted last fall. I have been talking them all up to my Mom everytime I saw something sprout. Well, I was taking the dog out and realized my camera was in my pocket. So here are a few shots I took of the blooming that happened in my yard. I deleted the photos when the dog pulled.
I started with the wisteria which is one of the main reasons I purchased this home. I just fell in love with the amazing vines growing all around the yard.

Here is the 60 year old vine that makes a fabulous canopy over the quarry stone patio.

This is the lonely vine at the corner of our property

This is the amazing and huge hostas that I planted when I first moved in about nine years ago. And the new cute red wooden picnic kids' table I got for only $12.00.

And my new additions are the Rembrant tulips I planted last fall. Unfortunetly it was a dark, rainy Ohio afternoon. But I am happy with my pics. Especially the last one!!!

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

So at that great estate auction I went to today, I came home with seven handmade quilts. There was about 15 that I didn't get. Of course I did what most people do, came home pissed that I missed out on those 15, excited about what I did get, then bummed they were in worse shape than I thought. That leads to the panic, "How am I going to get my money back?". Then I took some pics to send to my Mom ( the Quilt Queen). Now I don't feel so bad but still a little worried.
Here is a few bad shots -

The Bear Claw

Yellow Double Wedding Ring

Purple Album Cross

Pink Album Cross

Patriotic Pinwheel Quilt Top

Earth Toned Log Cabin

I've saved my first and favorite buy of the day for last -
The amazing embroidered CRAZY quilt
